چکیده

HCC is the sixth most common malignancies worldwide (Parkin et al., 2005) and its incidence is continuous increasing recently (El-Serag et al., 1999). Surgical resection is regarded as a potentially curative treatment for patients with HCC and it has become a safe operation with very low morbidity and mortality rates because of the improvement in surgical techniques and perioperative managements (Fan et al., 1999). However, the long term survival remains unsatisfactory as results of high postoperative recurrence rate which was reported ranged from 65% to 80% in 5-year after primary surgery (Poon et al., 2002; Imamura et al., 2003; Kamiyama et al., 2009), and most of the postoperative recurrences occur in liver remnant (Poon et al., 1999; Taketomi et al., 2010). Intrahepatic recurrence of HCC after surgical resection could originate from either intrahepatic metastasis (IM) from the primary tumor or multicentric occurrence (MO)

Prognostic value and preoperative predictors of microvascular invasion in solitary hepatocellular carcinoma ≤ 5 cm without macrovascular invasion

OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to investigate the prognostic value and preoperative predictors of microvascular invasion (MVI) in solitary hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) ≤ 5 cm without macrovascular invasion. METHODS A total of 233 consecutive HCC patients underwent curative hepatectomy were included in our study. Independent risk factors influencing the prognosis were identified, and p...

Preoperative Ratio of Neutrophils to Lymphocytes Predicts Postresection Survival in Selected Patients With Early or Intermediate Stage Hepatocellular Carcinoma

This study aims to clarify the prognostic value of the preoperative neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) after potentially curative hepatic resection (HR). The prognostic value of the NLR for HCC patients has not been definitely reviewed by large studies, especially for those with different Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer (BCLC) stages.A consecutiv...

Preoperative Radiologic and Postoperative Pathologic Risk Factors for Early Intra-Hepatic Recurrence in Hepatocellular Carcinoma Patients Who Underwent Curative Resection

PURPOSE The risk of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) recurrence must be considered ahead of surgery. This study was undertaken to identify pre-operative risk factors for early intrahepatic recurrence of HCC after curative resection in a large-scale. MATERIALS AND METHODS We retrospectively reviewed the preoperative three-phase multi-detector CT (MDCT) and laboratory data for 240 HCC patients wh...

Risk factors for immediate post-operative fatal recurrence after curative resection of hepatocellular carcinoma.

AIM To investigate the clinicopathological risk factors for immediate post-operative fatal recurrence of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), which may have practical implication and contribute to establishing high risk patients for pre- or post-operative preventive measures against HCC recurrence. METHODS From June 1994 to May 2004, 269 patients who received curative resection for HCC were review...
